The Present of Spanish Design — An editorial guide celebrating the present of Spanish industrial design
The Present of Spanish Design is an editorial guide conceived as a high-impact catalogue that brings together the most representative pieces of Spanish industrial design for the habitat sector from the past three years, created and manufactured by leading Spanish companies and designers. Edited by ICEX & Interiors From Spain, the project aims to strengthen the international presence of Spanish industrial design through a publication that serves both as a showcase and a statement of identity.
Conceived as a gift, this editorial piece celebrates the talent, innovation, and craftsmanship of the designers and companies who define the present of Spanish industrial design with a global outlook.
With the participation of 69 companies, the guide presents a curated selection of furniture, lighting, and rug designs by Spanish creators—each recognized for their creativity, technical excellence, and commitment to quality. Targeted at an international professional audience, the publication highlights key trends and the strength of the Spanish design industry abroad.
The editorial concept revolves around the dual meaning of the word present: as a gift—an offering of design, heritage, and talent—and as a reflection of the current moment in Spanish design. It captures a time of creative maturity, where tradition and innovation intertwine to produce relevant, emotional, and sustainable proposals.
The visual identity of the project embodies this idea through both sensory and symbolic means: a piece that is received as a gift (for you). The selection of papers, the editorial structure, the color palette, and the visual treatment all reinforce the essence of contemporary Spanish design. Every element is carefully considered to support and elevate the featured products, enhancing their meaning without overshadowing them.
The publication includes a foreword by Patricia Urquiola and features internationally awarded pieces, many of them created by designers or companies that have received Spain’s National Design Award. Through its pages, readers discover how Spain has evolved from an emerging player in the 1970s into a globally recognized creative force, thanks to its adaptability, strong industry, and steadfast commitment to design as a driver of value.
The Present of Spanish Design is more than a product showcase: it’s a vision. A tribute to Spanish craftsmanship, to the collaborative spirit between designers and manufacturers, and to a way of understanding industrial design as a bridge between the local and the global, the past and the future.
