Spanish Landscapes is the name of the exhibition we inaugurated last September 3, at the Taipei Design Museum. Under the subtitle Timeline to Design, the exhibition is organized by the TDRI-Taiwan Design Research Institute and supported by ICEX. The curatorship and exhibition design of the exhibition has been commissioned by the TDRI to our studio, Odosdesign, where we have worked closely with the organization. We have traveled to Taipei to finalize every last detail and inaugurate the exhibition with a conference about the process and intention of the exhibition.
The title of the exhibition refers to the everyday landscapes that are made up of all those elements belonging to the Spanish design scene in all its typological range and ordered in a timeline, from the late twentieth century to the present day.
Our approach focuses on the transversality of design as a point of intersection between the axes: industry – culture, form – function and technology – humanity.
At the exhibition we propose 6 concepts that function as overlapping layers to describe this design landscape; Contemporary classics, Daily icons, Mediterranean Soul, Disruptive attitude, Urban Lifestyle and conscious sustainability.
Design as a discipline, serves as a crucial link between Spanish culture and industry, blending human creativity with the practical and aesthetic needs of the modern world. At its core, Spanish design transcends mere utilitarian functions and becomes a potent means of expressing cultural values, social narratives, and collective aspirations. This is why it is a key component to introduce the Spanish culture and ways of expression in this exhibition. Viewing the holistic approach to Spanish design will not just provide guidance but also impart education and enhance the viewer’s experience with a deeper understanding of Spanish design. overlapping layers to describe this design landscape; Contemporary classics, Daily icons, Mediterranean Soul, Disruptive attitude, Urban Lifestyle and conscious sustainability.
In the exhibition we use 6 concepts as 6 overlapping layers to explain our view of Spanish design.
In this space, product design, graphic design, architecture, fashion and other types of elements go hand in hand to bring together in the same scenario names of internationally known designers who are references for us
